The Environmental and Health Impacts of Steroids and Hormones in Wastewater Effluent, as Well as Existing Removal Technologies: A Review

Micro-pollutants especially estrogens, progesterone, androgens, glucocorticoids, and growth hormones, are biological chemical impurities that find their way into natural aquatic environments in trace quantities (ng/L), possess a significant disturbance by impacting human life. Due to the progress analysis detection techniques, these elements have been observed quantified several studies. However, as result of limited methods management technology, adverse effects micro-pollutants surface coastal water is largely unknown. For this study, compounds hormones selected according high frequent value environmental waters. The concentration steroid ranges from 0.1–196 ng/L (estrogens), less than 0.1 439 (progesterone), 0.06–86 ± 2 (androgens), 433 (glucocorticoids), 26.6 ng/g 100 (growth hormones), percentage removal efficiency varies 10% 99%, measurement was found be very low.
